The Presidential Candidates – What Are They Worth?

While big money exerts considerable influence in DC, the law requires that candidates running for any Federal office must file a financial disclosure form.

Tom Steyer recently became a Presidential candidate. As the table indicates, he will file his first disclosure firm next month. It will likely show him to be the wealthiest candidate ever to run for the US Presidency.

How should these numbers be read? If a politician is “of good character”, they won’t matter. However, “money talks” in Washington so it is useful information for voters to have.
